Based on the UPDATED Guidance from Arkansas Department of Education below, K-12 probable close contacts no longer have to quarantine unless symptomatic. Positive cases are still required to report and isolate/quarantine.
ADE Update: As knowledge and resources have evolved during the Pandemic, the response to COVID-19 has been modified to balance the educational and physical well-being in public schools. Contact tracing and quarantines for students who are identified as probable close contacts remain best practice as mitigation strategies, but there is no directive for districts to do so. Isolation is still appropriate for individuals who test positive for COVID-19 or for those who are
symptomatic.
Pre-K must still quarantine close contacts due to different state regulations for preschool programs.
To report a positive Covid case or symptoms, or for any Covid-related questions, continue to contact the District Point of Contact, Kimberly Garlin, at 870-353-8314.
Thank you for your cooperation and support.

Due to a drastic decline in Covid-related cases among GPSD students and staff, the Gurdon Board of Education voted Tuesday evening to transition to "Masks Optional" for all K-12 students and staff effective Wednesday, February 16th. Thank you for your support.
