Special thanks to Morocco "Rockk" Arnold for teaching our student athletes about the differences in weightlifting, bodybuilding, and powerlifting. Rockk Arnold is an elite powerlifter who earned a first place victory at the 2015 World Powerlifting Championship in Las Vegas, Nevada. He is also the son of CMS Staffulty member Lonese Arnold.

A reminder that the CHI St. Vincent Mobile Mammography Unit will be coming to Gurdon High School on March 2. Appointments take about 15 minutes. This is a great opportunity to take care of an important health screening without having to drive out of town! This event is open to the public. We need 5 more people to register in order for the bus to make the trip down here. Now is the time!

Physical Science students wrapped up a unit on the energy of chemical reactions by exploring the exothermic reaction of an MRE heater! They shared their research on the history and nutrition of MREs (Meals Ready to Eat) and then tried some food from a real MRE. Mrs. Russell makes gets them out of their comfort zone to learn at GHS!

Exciting News! CHI St. Vincent Hot Springs Mobile Mammography Unit will be at GHS on March 2, 2023 to provide yearly screening mammograms. Call 501-622-2174 to schedule your appointment. Save yourself a trip out of town. Appointments last approximately 15 minutes - this is a quick and easy way to take care of yourself!
Screening mammography is the only method proven to reduce deaths due to breast cancer by detecting breast cancer early - mammograms save lives!

On Thursdays at CMS, we take a break from our Chromebooks and go back to "old school" teaching and learning. We are focusing on developing soft skills like problem solving, collaboration, and critical thinking.

We have many things happening at GHS next week! Wednesday will be an early release day. Wednesday-Saturday we are hosting the District Senior High Basketball Tournament. Thursday after school we will be holding Parent/Teacher Conferences. There will be no school for students on Friday the 17th or Monday the 20th. There will be a blood drive from 8:30-1:30 on the 21st.

Gurdon's Wellness Center (a School-Based Health Center located within Gurdon High School) provides access to school-based medical, dental and behavioral health services to all students! 418,000 Arkansans had Medicaid coverage extended through the pandemic. The public health emergency that paused Medicaid renewals ends March 31. Medicaid renewal letters have started back up and will be mailed soon. If you do not send in your renewal, you will lose your Medicaid coverage. This includes ArKids A/B.
