The Title I Part C - Arkansas Migrant Education Program is a federally funded program that provides services to the children of families who move seeking temporary or seasonal work in Arkansas’s agricultural and fishing industries. The program is designed to help children ages three (3) through twenty (21), who are uniquely affected by the combined effects of poverty, language, cultural barriers, and difficulties pertaining to the migratory lifestyle. The primary goal of the Migrant Program is to help our students meet the same challenging academic content and student academic achievement standards that are expected of all children.

The Arkansas Migrant Education Program (AR MEP) is federally funded as part of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, and is regulated by Title I, Part C.

The Arkansas Migrant Education Program provides formula grants to school districts and six Education Service Cooperatives across the state that offers a comprehensive program including identification and recruitment, supplemental instructional and support services, advocacy, and basic health services to migratory children.

The six Education Services Cooperatives also have the responsibility to provide technical assistance to the districts that include staff development, special programs planning, and program implementation guidance.

As families register a student, they are asked to complete assorted paperwork. One of the items in that registration packet is the Employment Survey. The local designee submits copies of these completed forms to the regional cooperative located in Hope, Arkansas.
